The GapCon EconFILM™ press is developed for surface filling, pigmentation, and film sizing and can be operated in a combination of Film Press with Mini-Sump or as a conventional Size Press. The machine is designed to allow flexibility between the customers current needs and any future requirements.
The major benefit of the EconFILM™, compared to a conventional Pond Size Press, is the high solid content for starch applications of up to 15 % and for coating operations up to 68 %. For sizing operations a starch film of up to 4 g/m² per side can be applied. For coating operations 15 g/m² per side is possible. The coatings can be different on both paper sides too. The absolute homogeneous film application in CD and MD direction is a direct result of the very even distribution of the sizing material across the machine width in combination with very precise operation of the rod system. Different rod dimensions and rod profiles, combined with variable rod speeds and rod pressures control the sizing volume. The sizing chamber is sealed at the bottom by a dosing blade and at the edges by a pressure free chamber. This leads to a low overflow of sizing material, absolutely clean edges and smaller capacity of the pumps and the sizing conditioning system.
The clamping system and the rod/motor coupling allow the rod to be changed very quickly. This rod system, designed with a wear bed embedded in the main rod bed, offers an additional advantage with regard to the operating costs of the system.
The EconFILM™ film press is one of the most advanced systems in the industry. It is cost efficient and operator friendly, and combines excellent operating results with optimum flexibility for present and future product requirements.
